Vesna ParunVesna Parun was born on April 10, 1922 on the island of Zlarin nearby Šibenik. She is the most distinguished Croatian poetess of the second part of the 20th century. She holds this position in Croatian literature owing to the magnificence of her poetic idiom, its richness of themes and motifs and her creative productiveness. Poetry is Vesna Parun's primary domain but as early as after her second collection she began writing prose and plays. She has published more than 80 books of poetry and prose and four of her plays have been put on stage. She has been writing for more than 60 years and is already a part of literary history but continues to be active.
