SENKO KARUZA|Back to Contents
Senko Karuza (Split, 1957) has published in the journals Polet, Studentski list, Student, Mogućnosti, Rival, Dnevnik (Ljubljana). He has been writing for a long time (ever since the golden years of the journal Quorum), while his books have been published over the last ten years. His work has been included in various anthologies, reviews and selections of short stories. It has been translated into a number of languages and he has read it at a number of Croatian festivals and abroad. He is the founder of the informal Multimedia mobile centre for researching alternative forms of surviving on small and open seas islands. He writes regular columns for the journal More. He has published a book of collected prose works Teško mi je reći (It Is Hard for Me to Say), a book of short stories Busbuskalai (1997), Ima li života prije smrti (2005) (Is There Life Before Death), Vodič po otoku (2006) (A Guide Across the Island). If there is a constant in his prose then it is the island but Karuza deals with this frequent literary theme – how can he do otherwise – through „a view from within“ and not from the mainland.
