Javor Novak, Croatian writer (born in Zagreb in 1956). Javor Novak studied veterinary medicine and law. He publishes travelogues in maritime periodicals and on Radio Zagreb (1984–1990), and on Croatian Radio (until 1995). For the Second and Third Programme of Croatian Radio he edits broadcasts dealing with maritime themes, with scientific approaches to the Adriatic and travelogues and essays (1984–200.). He worked as the editor-in-chief of the nautical journal Hrvatski skipper (1995); as assistant of the editor-in-chief and the editor-in-chief of the journal Hrvatsko slovo (1996–1998) where he published his analyses of politics, photographs, interviews, and reviews of books and travelogues. He has been writing travelogues and short stories for literary journals since 2000.
He has published two books: Da sam imao Hrvatsku (If I Had Had Croatia) (2003), a collection of political commentaries, and Dosanjani Jadran – Plovidbe od Savudrijske vale do Lokruma (The Dream of the Adriatic Come True – A Voyage from Savudrija Bay to Lokrum) (2007), a collection of sailing travelogues.
For his newspaper work the first Croatian president awarded him with The Order of Danica Hrvatska with the figure of Marko Marulić (1997).
Amongst other things he keeps busy with journalism, photography and the rights of fathers. He lives in Zagreb and is employed in the documentary department of Croatian Radio-Television.
